Celebrate Your Birthday in a Babies Funland – Ignoring this one rule is a big No-No!
When my son started school, he wanted to invite his whole class to his birthday party. Since we couldn’t have the party at our house, we booked a room at a local wildlife rescue museum. But we soon realized that there was a limit to the number of guests we could have. Even though we tried to keep the guest list under the limit, some people still RSVPed for more than one person.
During the party, more surprises came when some guests showed up with extra kids or another parent. We almost ran out of food and had to pay extra at the venue. A friend told me that this happens a lot at kids’ parties and that I should make it clear who is invited on the invitation.
The next year, I did just that. I mentioned the guest limit but said I would let parents know if there were any open spots. However, some people still RSVPed for more than they were supposed to and others asked to bring additional children.
I don’t think people are intentionally causing problems. They may not be aware of the guest limits and fees. Next year, I plan to address the issue in a positive way. Instead of just saying “no siblings,” I will suggest alternative activities for them. I will also directly contact anyone who RSVPed for too many people.
I have eight months until my son’s next birthday party, and I hope everything goes smoothly.
